The Dragon of Smoke Escaping from Mount Fuji

Originally, this mosaic was meant as a proof-of-concept and trial space for my method of hand-painting and stacking pieces, before I tackled the much larger image of “The Great Wave”. I got samples of black and white paint for mixing the grey gradient; I am still amazed it turned out OK. The frame is made of scrap ends from the cherry boards used to make the frame of “The Great Wave”.
